RFA: Project Firstline (Infection Prevention and Control Training)

On April 23rd, the New York State Department of Health (DOH) released a Request for Applications (RFA) for statewide associations to implement infection prevention and control (IPC) training for frontline workers. This funding is available through the Project Firstline: the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Healthcare Workforce IPC Training Collaborative. This project aims to provide IPC training directly to frontline personnel, with a focus on unlicensed workers who may not have been mandated to take other infection control courses. CDC has provided about $3.4 million in total funding to New York State for this project.

Awardees will assess training needs and implement appropriate IPC training programs, including a training curriculum focused on infection control basics (e.g., transmission risk, safe donning and doffing of personal protective equipment, preventing the spread of respiratory infections). DOH will also explore options to enhance the capacity of local health departments to address IPC needs in adult care, assisted living, and outpatient facilities in their jurisdiction.

SPG’s summary of the RFA can be found here. The full RFA is available here. Applications are due on May 27th.
