On October 19th, the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) released a Request for Proposals (RFP) for up to $250,000 annually ($1 million total) for not-for-profit organizations to develop and operate four Youth Clubhouses in New York City in each borough outside Manhattan. Youth Clubhouses aim to serve adolescents (ages 12 to 17) and/or young adults (ages 18 to 21) who are in recovery from or at risk for a substance use disorder (SUD) by:
- Providing a community-based, non-clinical setting that promotes recovery and is safe, welcoming, and alcohol/drug free;
- Offering participants the opportunity to work with each other to achieve personal and common recovery; and
- Promoting long-term recovery through skill building, recreation, education, wellness, evidence-based prevention and recovery activities and a number of other pro-social activities.
