Next Round of SHCFTP Grants

On July 19th, the New York State Department of Health (DOH) issued a request for stakeholder input regarding the next round of health care capital grants under the Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program (SHCFTP). As required by statute, DOH is seeking comment regarding program eligibility, award criteria and the process for making awards under this request for applications (RFA), through which approximately $200 million in capital funding will be awarded.

As with the first round of funding, this grant will support capital projects, debt retirement, working capital, as well as non-capital projects that facilitate transformation activities to maintain or expand essential health care services, such as mergers, consolidations, or acquisitions. The program is administered by DOH and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY). Projects are designed to support the objectives of the Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP) program, including improving access to care, reducing health care costs and decreasing avoidable hospital admissions to improve health outcomes for New Yorkers. Awards will also be focused on projects which will help ensure the financial sustainability of safety net healthcare providers.

Comments and questions regarding this RFA should be sent via email here. All comments must be received by August 17th. More information on the request for comment is attached.
