CDC Releases RFA for Initiatives that Support Young Breast Cancer Survivors and Patients
On March 4th, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a Request for Applications (RFA) seeking organizations to implement innovative strategies that support both young breast cancer survivors and young metastatic breast cancer patients. Activities funded through this opportunity are intended to:
- Increase the availability of psychosocial support services for patients and their families;
- Establish and provide education opportunities for providers on topics such as palliative care and cultural competency; and
- Improve post-treatment opportunities for patient survivor groups that have been economically and socially marginalized, including by mobilizing and educating community health workers and patient navigators.
CDC will provide $18.4 million in total funding across eight awards during the five-year program period (up to $460,000 in annual funding per awardee). Contracts are expected to begin on September 30th. Eligible applicants include not-for-profit and for-profit organizations with relevant experience.
The RFA is available here. Applications are due on May 6th. Letters of Intent are recommended, but not required, and may be submitted to Angela Moore at DP24-0061@cdc.gov through March 29th. There will be an informational conference call on March 21st from 3pm-4:30pm, which may accessed here.
HHS Releases NOFO for Community-Level SDOH Innovations
On March 5th, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for community-level innovations that reduce barriers related to social determinants of health (SDOH). Award recipients will be expected to:
- Build or maintain a sustainable collaborative network, inclusive of community-based organizations (CBOs) and medical organizations;
- Implement community-level innovations that reduce barriers in two SDOH domains and increase use of preventive health services;
- Evaluate project processes and outcomes; and
- Share information about the project and its findings with the public.
Awarded applicants will receive between $475,000 and $600,000 in annual funding. Contracts will last for 4 years, starting on August 1st. Eligible applicants include not-for-profit organizations and community-based organizations.
The NOFO is available here. Applications are due on May 15th.
