On October 30th, the New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS) released four Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for shelter and drop-in facilities for homeless individuals. The objectives of these RFPs are to provide transitional or temporary housing for homeless single adults, families with children, and adult families without other housing options. In addition, DHS seeks organizations to operate Drop-In Centers where homeless individuals can receive case management, housing assistance, food, showers, and other services with the ultimate goal of transitioning into temporary or permanent housing. Eligible applicants include not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organizations with relevant experience. The number of awards and funding amounts will be determined by DHS to meet the goals of the programs. All contracts will last for five years, with the option to renew for an additional four years.
The Shelter Facilities for Homeless Single Adults and the Drop-in Facilities for Homeless Adults RFPs will have a pre-proposal conference on November 14th.
