Nonprofit Facing Financial Uncertainty
A New York based non-profit agency serving children and individuals with behavioral health needs was facing the challenge of remaining financially sound while adapting to changes in financing, decreased clinic census, and increased regulatory requirements. Specifically, the agency’s Article 31 behavioral health clinic programs were struggling to achieve financial success and were in serious discussions regarding downsizing and/or closure.
Implementing a Learning Management System
One of the largest benefit management funds in the nation, providing comprehensive benefits to a large number of workers and their families, was looking to launch a learning management system platform to allow for a consolidated online and in-person approach to assessment, registration, consultation, and coursework for their eligible members, their families, and students. The ideal platform would provide support for their onsite personnel, allow members, families, and students to register for workshops and courses, and assist with the management of financial, employment, and educational data migration. Additionally, the implementation timeline was to be dictated by the management fund’s imminent relocation to new office space.
Helping a Safety Net Health System Reach Financial Stability
SPG was retained by one of New York’s largest and most critical safety net health systems to strategically support it in creating a pathway to long term financial sustainability.
New York’s safety net health systems and health care providers play an essential role in caring for low-income and vulnerable populations. These populations include the uninsured, underinsured, Medicaid and dually eligible. With Medicaid as the primary insurer, safety net health systems and providers who are reliant on this source of payment experience significant financial challenges that threaten their viability. Medicaid pays providers less than Medicare and commercial health insurance plans, placing safety net health systems in a constant state of financial distress, and exacerbating health disparities for the vulnerable populations they serve.
