Glossary of New York Medicaid Policy

As a reference tool for clients, SPG periodically updates our Glossary of New York Medicaid Policy, which provides an overview of and up-to-date information on the major policy components of New York’s Medicaid system. The areas we cover include:

  • Mainstream managed care;
  • Behavioral health;
  • Children’s services and foster care;
  • Long-term care; and
  • Services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).

The Glossary also provides information on other parts of NYS’s Medicaid payment system and reform initiatives, including:

  • The 1115 MRT Waiver;
  • The Value-Based Payment Roadmap;
  • Safety Net and Supplemental Payments; and
  • Global Budgets and Rate-Setting.

The 2022 update of the Glossary may be accessed on SPG’s website here. As always, please reach out to us with any questions or comments.
