Children’s Mental Health Rehabilitation Services Program

On November 21st, the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) established standards for providers seeking to offer the new single set of Children and Family Treatment and Support Services (CFTSS). Such providers will require OMH certification under a new category, that of Children’s Mental Health Rehabilitation Services (CMHRS). This proposed regulation outlines the requirements for existing children’s mental health providers or other interested service providers to become a certified CMHRS program and establishes standard expectations and oversight parameters for all CMHRS program providers.

Implementation of the Transformation will begin January 1, 2019, when the first three CFTSS will begin to be available for eligible children.

The proposed rule is available here. A brief summary of the regulation and CMHRS program is attached. Public comments on the proposed rule may be submitted to kelly.grace@omh.ny.gov until January 20, 2019.
