Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act Summary

On April 14th, Congress passed the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA) of 2015 (available here). The bill would permanently repeal the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula that perennially projects significant cuts to physician payments and replace it with a new payment formula. The bill also extends funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and makes other changes to Medicare. It awaits President Obama’s signature.
